This post is a bit past due, but my brother had asked me to make him a t-shirt with the Sriracha hot sauce logo on it for his Halloween costume.
Considering I had no real experience with screen printing, I decided to take on a DIY approach. After a rough idea, I headed out to JoAnn Fabrics and Michaels Craft Store to grab my materials:
*1 large red t-shirt
*1 large green t-shirt
*white fabric paint
*white poster board (or contact paper)
*a pencil
*tape
*paint brushes
*scrap cardboard
*x-acto knife
After drawing out the stencil on the poster board and carefully cutting out the pieces where I will be painting, I laid the shirt flat out with the cardboard in between the front and back layers. Then I taped the stencil down onto the center of the shirt front, and began painting. IT IS ALWAYS A GOOD IDEA TO TEST THE PAINT ON SCRAP FABRIC BEFORE BEGINNING THE ACTUAL PROJECT.
After painting, it is important to carefully remove the stencil before the paint dries. While the paint was drying, I cut out part of the green t-shirt in the shape of a hood and began my stitching project.
When all was complete - paint dried and hood stitched - I sewed the two pieces together and... ta da! An awesome, one of a kind shirt for the best hot sauce ever!
That is so awesome and so creative! I love it! This is why I think you're such a great artist ^_^
